A couple weeks ago, Discovery launched for its final mission into space and of course Patrick was there to witness it. He took this video of the momentous event which I wanted to share.
You'll notice in the video that he kind of missed an important part (like the actual launch). They say when you see a shuttle launch, you are supposed to watch it with your naked eye, not through the viewfinder of a camera. So in honoring this philosophy, Patrick watched the actual launch and failed to realize that his camera phone was pointed at the wrong launch pad... (no comment). While it makes me laugh, it's also kind of painful to watch because you hear the applause and you keep willing the camera to pan over but by the time it finally does, the shuttle is already in the air.
It reminds me of the time I went to the Atlantis launch and took what I believe to be some stunning (probably award-worthy) pictures on my Nokia flip phone only to realize later that I forgot to hit save...
For anyone wishing to see the launch in its entirety, you can click on this video which shows the launch from several different angles.
At least there are 2 more launches left which means 2 more shots for Patrick to get it right... :)
oo,
LOL. Stunning and award-worthy!
ReplyDeleteLOL. On another note, I just decided that space travel is scarrryyyy.
